The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on President Bola Tinubu to direct heads of security agencies deployed in the state to prevent desperate politicians from hijacking or disrupting collation centres in the governorship election in the state.
The governor made the appeal in a statement posted on his official X handle on Saturday evening.
Adeleke said reports of attempts by “desperate and rejected politicians” to hijack or disrupt collation centres across the state were “deeply concerning and unacceptable,” especially with the large number of security personnel deployed to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
“It is imperative that you use your good office(s) to issue a clear warning to the heads of security agencies deployed to protect the good people of Osun State and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process,” he stated.
The governor urged President Tinubu to “reiterate the commitment made to the people of Osun State that their votes will count and that the outcome of this election will reflect their genuine choice.”

He called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, National Security and Civil Defence Corps and security agencies to “strictly adhere to this directive,” while demanding that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) be given “every necessary support to conclude the process and deliver a credible and transparent outcome.”
Adeleke insisted that the people of Osun had already made their decision.
“The people of Osun State have spoken with one voice, and their voices must be heard. Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected,” he said.
The statement comes as collation of results continues across the 30 LGAs of the state.
