The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, has recognised a 50-man state executive committee for the party in Sokoto State.
Sheriff’s recognition was contained in a letter dispatched to the state and jointly signed by him and the National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo, a copy of which was made available to Daily Sun, on Wednesday.
The reference letter however takes cognisant of the local government and state congresses conducted in the state on 30th April, 5th and 10th May, 2016, respectively, where officers of the party at the ward, local government and state levels emerged.
“We are in receipt of the results from Sokoto State and note that Hon. Dan-Inno Dagawa and Hon. Yusuf Galadima, have been elected as the state chairman, as well as secretary, respectively.” The letter stated.
The statement decried attempts by what it described as ‘certain undemocratic elements’ to truncate the enthronement of internal democracy within the party in the state.
“This is by creating an illegal and parallel executive committee of the party in the state.
“The executives have been given the mandate to run the affairs of the party for the next four years,” it said, among other things.
However, factional state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma said he would not comment on an issue that is before the court.
Milgoma, who led the Senator Ahmed Makarfi’s faction, said his group would abide by the forthcoming judgment of the Supreme Court in this direction.
