Senate forgery allegation: My traducers’ll fail –Ekweremadu

THE Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu yesterday reassured his people at Enugu West Senatorial District that those planning for his re­moval over forgery allegation at the Senate would fail.

Ekweremadu who spoke at the Ikeoha Foundation Adult Literacy Day and 2015/2016 Scholarship Award Ceremony held at the Ezeagu council headquarters, Aguobu-Owa, told the gathering that he has faith in God that his traducers would not succeed.

He told the beneficiaries of his scholarship scheme that he decided to stagger the payment of their N400, 000 in four tranches of N100, 000 per year to ensure they continue with their studies in case anything happens to him.

The traditional rulers from the zone who were moved by his speech trooped out from the pa­vilion to the podium to assure him that they are behind him in his tra­vails in the Senate.

The traditional rulers prayed and gave him Ofo, an Igbo tra­ditional symbol of authority and support, saying that “nobody will be able to remove the deputy sen­ate president of the Federal Re­public of Nigeria.”

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who attended the event with his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezilo thanked Ekweremadu for uplifting the lit­eracy level of the people of the senatorial district.

The governor said that he per­sonally came to the occasion be­cause he saw what Ekweremadu was doing as a good thing that should be identified with.

While calling on other well-meaning individuals in the state to emulate him, Ugwuanyi promised that his government would support Ekweremadu in the programme.

Other dignitaries who attended the occasion include the wife of the deputy senate president, Dr (Mrs) Nwanneka Ekweremadu; House of Representatives mem­ber, Hon Toby Okechukwu; Hon Dennis Amadi; former Aviation Minister, Mrs. Fidelia Njeze; Engr Anayo Onwuegbu, ALGON Chairman, Hon Cornelius Nnaji, among others.
