The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has said that it was ready to face the 2027 general election.
Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha stated this in Abakaliki, the state capital during a solidarity gathering organised to celebrate the emergence of Chief Joseph Ekumankama, former Minister of State for Health as the party’s flag bearer for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency.
Emegha urged stakeholders of the party in the constituency to work collectively to ensure Ekumankama’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
He described Ekumankama as a man of good character, competence and the necessary political connections to attract meaningful development to the constituency.
He said the emergence of Ekumankama represented both the will of God and the collective desire of the people of Edda, stressing that his position throughout the primary process was guided by the interest of the party and the directive of Governor who he said remains the leader of the APC in the state.
Emegha explained that, as the state chairman of the party, he was committed to respecting the leadership and directives of the Governor, adding that he had no personal interest in the contest for the party’s ticket.
“Our Governor remains the leader of APC in the state. As party chairman, I am expected to obey the Governor at all times.
“So, whatever I did was in strict obedience to his directive, which he declared openly before everybody at the Ecumenical Centre during the Ebonyi South APC Stakeholders’ Meeting,” he said.
“The APC chairman declared that with the party’s primary election concluded, attention had shifted to the general elections, urging party members to put every disagreement behind them and work together for the success of all APC candidates.
“With party primaries now over, we are ready to face the general elections, and we are going to work together to ensure your victory,” Emegha assured Ekumankama.
He congratulated the candidate and pledged to deploy his political influence and resources towards ensuring that APC records a decisive victory in Edda Local Government Area.
