Benue Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has felicitated the Muslim community in Benue state, as they join the rest of the world to celebrate the solemn festival of Eid el-Kabir.

The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, sent his warm regards saying “On behalf of my family and government of Benue state, I send my warm felicitations to the Muslim community in Benue state.”

Alia who pointed out that the state is currently being bedevilled by insecurity and lack of development urged the Muslim faithful to use the period of Sallah to pray for peace for the development of Benue and Nigeria as a whole.

He also encouraged them to remember the less privileged ones around them and make good by being charitable towards them.

“As you celebrate and offer prayers on this solemn feast of sacrifice, I hope that the true spirit of God fills your hearts and make you find good reasons to reach out compassionately to the less privileged around you.

“As you are already aware, Benue State is still drowning in the stagnant waters of insecurity and underdevelopment, therefore, I encourage you to pray and make selfless sacrifices and commitments for the peace and development of the state and the entire nation.

“May God help you to understand that, the true meaning of life can only be found in solidarity, mutual aid and togetherness, and may He bless you with treasured moments of happiness and joy in this festive season and always,” Alia prayed.
