DETERMINED to see the female national team return to the Olympic Games after her 2004 showing in Athens, the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF has engaged the services of an Italian for D’ Tigress.
He is Mauro Procaccini and is serving as the team’s technical adviser. However, head Coach of the team, Scott Nnaji and his assistant Adewunmi Aderemi remain in the team as the trio would work together for the common good of the team.
Nnaji who revealed the arrival of the Italian to the camp said that everything is going on well.
“There’s no clash of interest here as many may want to assume. We’re working together to ensure that only the best players make the final cut to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Nantes, France. Let me assure you that there’s no special place for any player in the team.”
In line with not keeping a place for any player, Coach Nnaji has dropped US based Ify Ibekwe from the squad. Reason for dropping the 6’2 former Arizona star is that she is busy with Club activities in Australia.
