Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been omitted from the squad for the club’s AFC Champions League trip to Uzbekistan.
Head coach Ange Postecoglou is understood to have opted to rest the Portuguese star as part of plans to rotate his squad.
The decision also comes amid broader security concerns in the region.
Al Nassr are scheduled to face Pakhtakor in Tashkent on Monday, with Ronaldo set to miss the encounter.
Ronaldo scored a hat-trick last week in the Saudi Pro League, taking his remarkable career tally to 985 goals for club and country.
However, Postecoglou has prioritised player welfare amid a demanding schedule.
Kingsley Coman and Mohamed Simakan have also been omitted from the travelling squad for the crucial continental clash in Uzbekistan.
