First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, yesterday inaugurated 10 Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Digital Learning Centers across ten states.

The centers located in Abia, Delta, Edo, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Yobe, and Zamfara, are meant to expand youth empowerment and digital inclusion nationwide.

“I urge members of the various beneficiary communities to make good use of these facilities to enhance learning, creativity, and entrepreneurship, thereby improving livelihoods and contributing to national development,” she said during the virtual ceremony in her office at the State House, Abuja.

“Today’s commissioning presents another opportunity, under the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, to further expand digital access across the country. By providing communities with the resources required to develop ICT skills, we empower our people to participate meaningfully in the digital economy. This aligns with one of the key priority areas of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to accelerate economic diversification through industrialization and digitalization.”

Mrs. Tinubu also spoke on the broader vision for digitizing sectors such as farming and petty trading to improve ease of doing business and enhance profitability.

Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, underscored digital transformation as a catalyst for economic diversification and development. “This signifies unlocking potentials across various sectors especially among women and youth,” he stated. He highlighted RHI’s role in empowering Nigerians and driving national prosperity and inclusivity through collaboration.

Wives of the benefiting states’ governors attended the virtual ceremonies at their respective locations.

Beyond the 296 centers already established under the current administration, 15 more centers are being created in collaboration with RHI and NITDA, with a goal of building an additional 148 digital infrastructures nationwide and a total of 592 centers by 2027.
