A fashion-art collaboration involving Ranto Clothings has been formally archived at the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, marking a remarkable cultural milestone for the Lagos-based fashion brand.

The piece, created in partnership with fine art photographer Chidozie Maduka, is a mix of contemporary fashion styling with visual art. The work features a female subject styled in African Ankara fabric, captured through Maduka’s interpretative photographic lens, resulting in a composition that merges textile craftsmanship with fine art expression.

The archival inclusion places the collaboration within one of Nigeria’s leading institutional art collections, extending the brand’s presence beyond commercial runway platforms into formal cultural documentation.

Speaking on the development, founder of Ranto Clothings, Bright Urhobo, described the project as an intentional effort to explore fashion beyond its utilitarian function.

“Fashion is often seen only as clothing, but it carries history, identity and symbolism. When it intersects with art, it becomes part of a larger cultural record,” he said.

According to Urhobo, the collaboration was designed to highlight African fabric within an artistic context, demonstrating how traditional materials can be reinterpreted within modern visual storytelling.
