In a decisive move to counter the alarming wave of schoolchildren’s kidnapping in parts of the northern region, the Katsina State Police Command has activated a comprehensive school protection mechanism.

The initiative follows a proactive directive from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, to prioritize the safety and security of educational institutions.

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, subsequently directed the Coordinator of the School Protection Squad to immediately implement all necessary school protection protocols.

This activation is designed to ensure that all educational facilities across the state are safely and continuously guarded, according to a statement on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.

This significant security enhancement follows a strategic meeting with all tactical commanders in the area, where the Command’s general security strategies were thoroughly reviewed and optimized.

The Police Chief ordered the immediate deployment of additional operational resources to bolster security around schools and vulnerable communities.

The Command has appealed to the public to strengthen its partnership and collaboration with the police in this vital effort arguing that a secure environment for students and communities is a collective responsibility.

“The Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring a safer environment for all residents,” the statement said and urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities to relevant security agencies.
