The reconciliation meeting between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery is now expected to hold at the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), DailySun has learnt.
The meeting was earlier scheduled to take place at the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Tuesday, following a deadlocked session on Monday that failed to produce a resolution to the ongoing dispute between the two parties.
Tensions escalated last week after Dangote refinery reportedly disengaged several Nigerian workers shortly after they joined the union.
The company claimed the move was part of a routine reorganisation to enhance operational safety, but PENGASSAN accused the refinery of anti-labour practices, including mass victimisation, abrupt redeployments, and unequal treatment of local workers.

In protest, the union directed a halt in crude oil and gas supply to the facility, disrupting operations at Africa’s largest privately owned refinery.
The federal government, concerned about the implications of the crisis on national energy security, had initially invited both sides to the labour ministry for talks.
It is yet to be clear why the meeting was moved to the NSA’s office, but stakeholders believe that the relocation signals a heightened level of intervention, with the matter now viewed through a national security lens.
