The Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, has enjoined security agencies in Osun State to collaborate and smoke out criminals from their hideout to ensure peace ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking through the DIG Adegoke Soyoade at the police headquarters in Osogbo, yesterday, Disu expressed displeasure over reports of violence in the state.
He spoke at a stakeholders meeting with security operations where the All Progressives Congress and Accord Party were invited for a peace talk.
Though the APC representative attended the meeting, the police expressed surprise that Accord was not represented despite invitation.
Noting that the police is aware of cultism in the state, the IG maintained that they must not be allowed to operate freely.
He said, “The CP Osun State in collaboration with other agencies need to know their hideouts, get credible information about them, smoke them out and deal with them within the ambit of the law, regardless of where they belong.”
