The Managing Director/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji, has met the Osun State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and urged them to zone the governorship ticket to the West Senatorial District.
He said the appeal was to ensure justice and equity in the party, assuring that he has the wherewithal to win the election for the party.
Speaking with the state chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, and other members of the executive on Tuesday, Oyebamiji said he came to them as a sign of honour and respect to inform them of his intention to run for the governorship of the party.
Speaking with journalists, Oyebamiji said, “I am here today (Tuesday) to honour the party’s structure and inform the party leadership of my intention to run for governor of the state in 2026.
“For us to start any advocacy or campaign, we have to come here to have their blessing and to communicate my interest today,” Oyebamiji said.
Asked about the agitation for zoning of the party’s ticket to the West, Oyebamiji said, “Yes, I am from the West. For equity and justice, we are appealing to our leaders to look into that senatorial district so that we can balance the equation.”
In the West, North, East and Central, Bola Oyebamiji is competent to run for the governorship race.
“I have been in this government for almost 15 years. I have worked with the highest leadership of the party, and I have spent 28 years in private enterprise; combined together, I have what it takes to run a good government if given the opportunity,” Oyebamiji said.
