Ondo students excel as Benjamin Esther emerges winner of NANS JCC Spelling Bee 2025

Benjamin Esther Oluwatoyin from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has emerged as the winner of the 2025 NANS Joint Campus Council (JCC) Ondo State Axis Spelling Bee Competition.

The event, held at Margaret Mosunmola College of Health Technology, Owo, saw students from various tertiary institutions in the state compete in a keenly contested intellectual exercise.

Esther topped the competition with 85 points and went home with a cash prize of ₦300,000.

Akinde Promise Excel from the College of Health Technology, Akure (CHTA), finished as first runner-up with 45 points and received ₦200,000, while Okohokunbor Favour Oluwa Nifemi from Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo (AFUED), placed second runner-up with 40 points and was awarded ₦100,000.

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by JCC Chairman, Comrade Adekanye Mayomi Adeboye (INEC) and General Secretary, Comrade Oladele Oluwafemi E. (Fresh Diamond).

According to the statement, the NANS JCC Ondo State Axis leadership commended all participants for demonstrating intelligence, confidence, and quick thinking throughout the competition.

The student body also expressed profound gratitude to Comrade Adewole Adeyemi, popularly known as “Classic,” for single-handedly sponsoring the event.

“His support, dedication and unwavering belief in the intellectual growth of students played a major role in the success of this event.

“His contribution remains deeply appreciated by the entire student community,” the statement reads in part.

The NANS JCC Ondo State Axis reiterated its commitment to promoting academic excellence and intellectual engagement among Nigerian students.

“To every participant and stakeholder who contributed to the colourful outing, we say thank you.

“Your commitment continues to inspire our drive to promote knowledge, confidence and purposeful leadership among students,” the statement further reads.
