The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has denied rumours regarding the existence of a terrorist group in Iwo, describing the claims as “false and unfounded.”
He asserted that such reports are orchestrated by enemies intent on undermining the security and religious integrity of the region.
Oba Akanbi emphasized that misinformation aimed at tarnishing Iwo’s reputation will not succeed, describing the town as one of the safest in Nigeria.
He criticized those spreading these falsehoods as “social media terrorists” and threatened legal action against them.
The monarch noted that the Jama’atu Ta’awunil Muslimeen group, led by Grand Mufty of Yorubaland, Sheik Dahood Imran Molaasan, which the report was targeted at, is recognized for its substantial contributions to improving security and educational standards in the region, operating over forty schools, including a college of education and orphanages.

According to the monarch, its security wing, the Jaysu Security Network, has been pivotal in maintaining peace in Iwoland.
In a statement released through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, on Monday, Oluwo praised Sheik Molaasan for his philanthropic efforts and commitment to education, expressing disbelief that the organization’s positive contributions could be mischaracterized as terrorism.
“Jaysu Security Network is trusted and works directly with the Nigerian Police Force. They have the local knowledge to assist in apprehending criminals,” he stated.
Oluwo also highlighted the absence of movement restrictions in Iwo, asserting that the town is freely accessible at all hours, which is unique compared to other areas. He condemned the notion that any form of ritual or illegal activities could occur without intervention from local security.
The monarch stressed that measures are being taken against those spreading rumors intended to disrupt the peace in Iwo, vowing that efforts to destabilize the town would be met with resistance and that Iwo will continue to thrive as a secure community.
