House of Representatives member for OHANIVO, Kama Nkemkanma Kama, floated the talent hunt to identify budding creative endowments abound in the three local government areas of Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo. The process began from the 10 legacy communities that make up the federal constituency, culminating in the grand finale.

Over 100 talents from the constituency competed for the grand prizes of millions on offer in various arts including music, dance, singing, drama, videography, and others.

An experienced Nollywood personality from the area, Andy Chukwu was Chairman of the Talent Hunt and Judges’ Committee.

Speaking at the event, Kama tasked Nigerian youths to dedicate themselves towards promoting their inborn talents as a way of creating wealth for themselves, noting that this will reduce the temptation of engaging in societal vices and crime.

The lawmaker also staged his annual Christmas carol musical concert for choirs in the constituency with 14 different choirs participating.

At the end, St. Peter’s Catholic Choir Ishiagu took first position winning the grand prize of N2.5m and a set of Yamaha musical drums.

Voice of St. Cecilia Choir, Onicha, was the first runner up which attracted a prize of N1.5m and a set of Yamaha keyboard, while the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star Choir, Ohaozara, placed third, winning N1m for their effort. Other participating choirs received consolation prizes of N100,000 each.

On the essence of the programme, the lawmaker revealed that his vision was about appreciating God and keeping his vow for winning the election.

He noted that millions of Nigerian youths are endowed with talents that are wasting away hence the need to organise such events to discover and harness such talents.

He lauded the participating choirs for giving the audience a thrilling performance that lasted till the early hours of the morning.

He also thanked the guest ministers and other visiting choirs for their outstanding performances.

Kama extolled the people of the constituency for turning out in their numbers to praise and dance to the Lord in thanksgiving.

He said the events will be concluded on January 4 with the OHANIVO Unity Carnival, the first of its kind in the area.

The legislator said the prizes for the twelve winners of the talent hunt will be announced on the day of the carnival at Central School, Egunkwo, Onicha.

Andy Chukwu commended the lawmaker for staging the events, saying that such activities have the capacity to enhance both human capital and the nation’s economy. He urged Nigerian politicians to unveil initiatives and programmes that will positively impact lives.

The member representing Onicha East State Constituency, Celestine Ogba also lauded the initiative which he noted will discourage youths from engaging in vices.
