The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Lafia Study Centre, has matriculated 125 students for the 2016/2017 academic session.
Speaking during the ceremony on Saturday, the Acting Director of the Study Centre in Lafia, Mrs Rhoda Ezhim, urged the new students to strive for academic excellence.
Ezhim advised them to work hard as they start their academic journey in order to justify their parent’s investments on them.
She said that more than 80 students, who were offered admission could not register due to lack of money.
The director, therefore, congratulated those who successfully registered for taking advantage provided by the institution, to advance their education pursuit by developing themselves.
She remarked that since the inception of the centre, there has not been any case of cultism.
The director, however, said that there were cases of examination malpractice, which were handled effectively and the affected students were sanctioned.
Ezhim warned the students against indulging in social vices such as indecent dressing and drug abuse among others.
“You should take your studies seriously and shun anything contrary to the rules governing the activities of the institutions.
“Anyone erring student will face the full wrath of the law,’’ she said. (NAN)
