Nigeria’s construction market, projected to reach over $108 billion in 2025, is set to expand at an annual rate of 4.4 per cent between 2024 and 2028, according to industry forecasts. This outlook comes as more than 145 exhibitors from over 20 countries prepare to showcase building solutions at the Big 5 Construct Nigeria exhibition in Lagos.
Scheduled for September 23–25 and organised by dmg events, the 2025 exhibition is considered the country’s largest gathering for construction professionals. It will convene international brands, local suppliers and key decision-makers to explore opportunities in Nigeria’s infrastructure and housing sectors.
Government investment is central to the sector’s expansion, with $16.8 billion allocated to capital expenditure in 2024, including road development and affordable housing, alongside long-term commitments under the $1.9 trillion net-zero by 2060 Plan.
“Nigeria’s construction market is projected to reach over $108 billion in 2025, reflecting the scale of opportunity for both local and international stakeholders. Big 5 Construct Nigeria 2025 builds on this growth, aligning closely with the country’s development and infrastructure master plan and housing objectives,” said Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President, Construction at dmg events.
“By convening leading suppliers, regional players and decision-makers under one roof, the event creates a space where business opportunities meet national priorities. Our goal is to ensure that the knowledge, technology and solutions required to close infrastructure and housing gaps are accessible, so that Nigeria’s construction sector can continue to drive sustainable economic growth across West Africa.”
Exhibitors from Germany, India, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States will be represented, with dedicated national pavilions from Egypt, Türkiye, China and Austria. First-time participants include Sany Equipment, Daikin, Legrand Electric and Stanley Black & Decker, joining returning brands such as Lafarge and Sika.
In addition to product showcases, the exhibition will feature over 25 free-to-attend, CPD-certified sessions under the Big 5 Talks platform. The technical discussions, backed by industry associations such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), BIM Africa and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), will cover themes including sustainable building, project management, cost control and architecture.
Speakers will include Arc. Sebastine Abang John Thomas of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Morohunmubo Olayemi Afolabi of the Green Building Council Nigeria, among others.
