The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over an alleged plan by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to invade all 30 local government council secretariats and the Area Office on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director of Media and Information of the APC, Kola Olabisi, alleged that PDP-affiliated local government chairmen and councillors had finalised arrangements to forcibly take over the secretariats.
According to the opposition party, the PDP officials had hired dangerous political thugs from within and outside the state to execute the plan.
Olabisi claimed that the recent re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke had emboldened the “illegally selected” PDP council executives to regroup for the invasion.
He further alleged that the plot was designed in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), accusing the union of acting as a tool for the state government.
Addressing the ongoing legal dispute over local government leadership, the APC noted that the suit regarding the tenure of reinstated APC council executives, previously decided against them at the Federal High Court, is currently pending before the Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State.

The party stressed that all parties must allow the judicial process to run its full constitutional course rather than resort to self-help.
The APC pointed to a prior Supreme Court ruling that characterised the claims of the disputed PDP council executives as legally invalid, warning that any non-judicial action would amount to a “monumental illegality.”
To prevent a breakdown of law and order, the party urged the Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to intervene proactively.
“We are alerting members of the public and statutory security agencies to these evil intentions,” the statement read, referencing the past killing of a reinstated APC council chairman, Remi Abass of Irewole Local Government, by suspected political thugs.
The APC warned that should any crisis arise, security agencies should hold the PDP council chairmen and NULGE officials accountable.
