In a move to boost women’s economic empowerment, Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to advancing financial inclusion and leadership opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
According to a statement issued by her media aide, Jonathan Eze, she made the pledge during a meeting with representatives from Wane Global, CS Strategies, and TAI Corp on the sidelines of the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in New York.
The discussions focused on strategic partnerships to enhance access to finance, education, and training for women entrepreneurs, aiming to create an enabling environment for their economic participation.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasised the importance of financial inclusion and leadership development in scaling women-led businesses and contributing to national development.
According to her, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Nigeria is committed to breaking systemic barriers hindering women’s economic participation through ongoing reforms in finance and policy. She listed these efforts as including increasing investment in women-led businesses, improving access to credit, and equipping women entrepreneurs with necessary skills.
Representatives from Wane Global, CS Strategies, and TAI Corp praised Nigeria’s gender-responsive economic policies and pledged support for initiatives empowering women entrepreneurs through capacity-building programmes, mentorship, and tailored financial instruments.
