NerdzFactory Company has announced a partnership with the World Bank, the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Together, they will drive the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project, a national initiative designed to bolster skills acquisition across Nigeria.

Ademulegun Olowojoba, founding partner, NerdzFactory, said the programme would be rolled out in Lagos and Rivers states, two of Nigeria’s most populous and economically significant states.

“It aims to equip young Nigerians with the digital skills necessary to thrive in today’s fast-evolving tech industry. The TechBridge programme offers training in key areas such as graphic and product design, digital marketing, product management and front-end web development.

“However, the scope of the programme goes beyond technical proficiency. Participants will also receive instruction in essential workplace and life skills, as well as entrepreneurship, ensuring they are well rounded and prepared for the challenges of the professional world.

“This initiative is a testament to NerdzFactory’s unwavering commitment to empowering individuals and communities through targeted skill development and the creation of economic opportunities. By providing youth with high-demand tech expertise, we are not only preparing them to thrive in the fast-paced environment of the future workforce but also cultivating a new generation of innovators and leaders poised to drive significant growth within Nigeria’s tech ecosystem,” he said.

Olowojoba disclosed that the TechBridge programme is scheduled to run from September to December 2024, targeting young individuals eager to gain practical experience and exposure in the digital field.

“One of the programme’s most attractive features is its 100 percent tuition scholarship, making it accessible to a wide range of participants. In addition to free training, participants will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognised certifications upon successful completion of the programme. These certifications are designed to enhance their employability and set them apart in the competitive job market.

“Beyond the classroom, the TechBridge programme offers additional support, including internships and job placements with leading organisations in the tech industry. Participants will also have access to mentorship from industry experts, who will provide guidance and insights into navigating the complexities of the tech world…”

For those interested in entrepreneurship, the programme offers business support to help them launch their own ventures.

“NerdzFactory’s involvement in the IDEAS project is a reflection of its broader mission to enhance human capital outcomes and business processes in Nigeria. The company’s various programmes and initiatives are aimed at providing individuals, businesses and institutions with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital age,” he said.

Olowojoba also stressed that NerdzFactory was not only contributing to the development of a skilled workforce but also playing a key role in shaping the future of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.
