The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a man for  allegedly Importing of 414.2kg of  Indian hemp.  The street  value of the substance is  over N200 million.

It was gathered that the suspect, Ajetsibogho, a native of Warri, Delta State ,was arrested by operatives of NDLEA, attached to the Lagos State Command.

Ajetsibogho, younger  brother of  an Itsekiri leader, according to report, was apprehended in Lagos on June 25,2025, with the substance sealed in white and black nylons, concealed in several bags.

The  suspect, an  influential person had  reportedly escaped many attempts by narcotic  trying to arrest him.

Our correspondent  gathered that a prominent  politician has made frantic efforts to compromise the NDLEA officials with a bid to sweeping the matter under the carpet and get the suspect off the hook, but the officials rebuffed the attempts .

When contacted, the spike spokesman of the Lagos state Command of  NDLEA, Mallum Abdullahi neither confirmed nor denied the report, saying that  he was  out of Lagos.

Meanwhile, a civil society group under the platform of  Concerned Citizens for Justice and Accountability has called on all well-meaning Nigerians, Delta citizens and security agencies to pick keen interest in the matter and demand an immediate anstransparent investigation.

President of  Warri based organization, Casey Wealth in a statement, said the people deserved to know everything about the matter, adding that the culture of impunity must end now.

“We call on all well-meaning Nigerians, Delta citizens and security agencies to pick keen interest in this matter and demand an immediate, transparent investigation. The people deserve to know the truth. The culture of impunity must end.

“How long shall we keep quiet while our youths are destroyed and our communities turned into theatres of chaos by drug lords hiding behind political masks? Let this serve as a rallying call. Nigeria is not for sale and Delta State is not a playground for narcotic-sponsored anarchy.”, the statement concluded.
