Senate President Godswill Akpabio has charged senators on the need to ensure that the national budget is a reflection of the people’s collective dreams.
Speaking during a plenary session on Tuesday, Akpabio urged the lawmakers to renew their commitment to transforming Nigeria into a nation of progress and hope.
His address titled “Rising to the Greatness of Our Calling” also harped on the completion of electoral reforms before the next electoral cycle.
“As we embark on this new legislative year, I urge us all to include in our New Year resolutions a renewed commitment to the service of our great nation, Nigeria.
“We must ensure that every item within it reflects the collective dreams of our people and serves as a catalyst for development, equity, and justice,” he said.
“Electoral reform is not just a legislative duty; it is a moral imperative,” Akpabio stated, adding that the nation’s democratic stability is tied to a transparent and credible electoral system.
