Nasarawa State Government, through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Kwanta Yakubu, received a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, ahead of the 5th edition of the Federal Education Sector Games (FEDUGAM) scheduled to hold in Lafia from August 4th to 10th, 2025.
The two-man delegation—comprising the FEDUGAM Consultant, Okeyinka Matthew, and Technical Assistant, Anthony Okoro—was at the ministry to formally engage with the state government in preparation for the upcoming national event.
Welcoming the delegation on Wednesday, Yakubu expressed appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Education and the organisers of the games for once again choosing Nasarawa State as host, having previously held the 2nd edition of the games in Lafia in 2017.
“We are honoured that Nasarawa State has been considered worthy of hosting this important event for the second time,” the commissioner said.
“Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for sports and national unity. We assure you of our maximum cooperation for a successful hosting,” he added.

He further noted that hosting the games again is a testament to the state’s increasing capacity to deliver on major sporting events, while also projecting its peaceful atmosphere and hospitality.
Earlier, the delegation informed the Commissioner that fifteen Federal Education Sector Agencies are expected to participate in the weeklong event. The sporting activities will feature competitions aimed at promoting unity, physical fitness, and inter-agency collaboration among workers in the sector.
Presenting symbolic souvenir kits to the Commissioner, Matthew said, “This gesture is to officially mark Nasarawa State as the host of the 5th edition. We’re confident that this year’s edition will be memorable, given the state’s rich history of hosting national events.”
Okoro also reiterated the Federal Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that all necessary logistics and technical arrangements are in place before the commencement of the games.
In addition to the Commissioner, the delegation also presented souvenir kits to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, and other senior directors, signifying institutional support for the tournament.
The 4th edition of the games was hosted by Bauchi State in 2024. This year’s edition is expected to bring together hundreds of staff and officials from across the country to Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
