FG expresses gratitude to China over modernization of ports, training of maritime professionals

The Federal Government, has expressed gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its contributions to the modernization of the nation’s ports and the training of maritime professionals.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Marine and Blue Economy, Professor Busayo Fakinlede, expressed the government’s appreciation when the Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, Zhou Hongyou, received him in audience in Abuja.

During the meeting, Fakinlede spoke highly of China’s achievements in developing its maritime and blue economy.

He expressed gratitude for China’s contributions to the modernization of Nigeria’s ports and the training of maritime professionals.

“Leveraging its geographical advantages, Nigeria is ready to deepen blue-economy cooperation with China, unlock the dividends of blue-economy development, and deliver benefits to the two peoples,” Fakinlede said.

In his remarks, Zhou noted that the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has entered a new stage of high-quality development under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu.

He also said that political mutual trust between the two sides keeps consolidating, and fruitful outcomes have been yielded in cooperation across various fields.

“China stands ready to take the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to explore blue-economy cooperation to foster new growth drivers for bilateral ties, and contribute to building a high-level China-Nigeria community with a shared future,” Zhou said.
