NARTO Harps on improved transport infrastructure, logistics

In an effort to reduce business costs, improve trade and accelerate growth, National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has called for improved transport infrastructure and logistics.

The association made this known in a goodwill message by president of the group Alhaji Yusuf Othman, delivered by deputy president, prince Ganiyu Salami at annual summit of transportation correspondents association of Nigeria held recently in Lagos.

He noted that efficient, resilient and inclusive logistics systems were essential to connecting markets, improving supply chains and creating economic opportunities.

Othman advocated for stronger collaboration among government agencies and private sector operators and other stakeholders as a necessary prerequisite for sustaining economic growth.

According to him, effective effective transport and logistics infrastructure will help accelerate economic growth while ensuring communities in the country benefit from improved connectivity.

He mentioned railways, airways, waterways and roads as critical infrastructures that can reduce transportation costs and transit time if properly developed and maintained.

The president also stated that multimodal integration remains another important component of an efficient logistics system adding that seamless connection between rail, road water and air transport could enhance movement of cargoes and overall supply chain of the Country.

He however stressed need for access to finance for as each asset and infrastructure plays important role in achieving these laudable objectives

Othman restated that stronger investment collaboration and innovation in transportation logistics would help Nigeria build a more efficient system capable of supporting trade, job creation and broader economic development.
