The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has lauded outgoing Executive Director of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Dr. Patrick Adebola, noting that his tenure represented a significant milestone in the history of the institute and the nation’s agricultural research landscape.
This is contained in a Monday statement signed by Executive Director, Administration and Planning, NANS Headquarters, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman.
“Today, we join stakeholders across Nigeria and beyond to acknowledge, appreciate, and celebrate a visionary leader whose service has been marked by excellence, innovation and unwavering dedication
“Dr. Adebola assumed office at a critical period when CRIN required renewed direction, strengthened research output and deeper engagement with industry players.
“His leadership brought a new wave of purpose, transforming the institute into a more vibrant, research-driven, and farmer-oriented establishment,” the national student body said.
NANS noted that through Adebola’s strategic initiatives, CRIN recorded notable achievements that continue to resonate across cocoa, kola, and cashew value chains.
“Among his accomplishments is the enhancement of research infrastructure, the repositioning of CRIN’s laboratories and field stations, and the promotion of improved, disease-resistant crop varieties that have boosted productivity for thousands of farmers,” the statement reads in part.
NANS noted that Adebola’s commitment to cultivating strong partnerships with local communities, national agencies, international research bodies, and private sector stakeholders strengthened the institute’s relevance and broadened its impact.

NANS added, “Dr. Adebola’s tenure also championed transparency, professionalism, and capacity-building.
“He invested in the welfare and development of staff, fostering an environment where researchers and support teams could thrive.
“His style of leadership consultative, inclusive, and forward-thinking has earned him the respect among his colleagues, industry actors and agricultural stakeholders nationwide.
“As he bows out honourably, Dr. Adebola leaves behind a legacy defined by institutional growth, research excellence, and national service.
“His achievements will continue to shape CRIN’s direction long into the future, providing a strong foundation for sustained innovation within Nigeria’s tree crop sector.”
NANS expressed profound gratitude for his outstanding contributions while celebrating the indelible mark he has left on agricultural research and development in Nigeria.
