The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), yesterday, announced the release of results for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission to Federal and State Technical Colleges across the country.
Recall that candidates sat for the examination on June 13 across 34 Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) and 168 State Technical Colleges.
Announcing the results at a press briefing in Benin City, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, said the NCEE was a strategic national assessment designed to identify and select qualified candidates for admission to technical colleges.
He noted that the institutions play a critical role in developing the skilled workforce required to drive Nigeria’s industrialisation, technological advancement, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development.
He disclosed that 15,290 candidates registered for the examination against 29,260 candidates that sat for the examination in 2025, adding that registration exercise for a supplementary NCEE would commence before the end of July 2026 to enable more prospective candidates to enrol.
The NABTEB boss explained that candidates enrolled in 28 trades, stating that electrical installation and maintenance practice got the highest enrolment of 3,870 candidates.
He listed tiling and cladding, social media content creation and management, fish farming activities, motorcycle and tricycle repairs, creative media, automobile CNG conversion and leather works as trades with the lowest enrolments. He further disclosed that 10,426 candidates representing 75.2 percent scored 50 percent and above, 5,708 candidates representing 41.22 percent scored 70 percent and above; 3,422 candidates representing 24.71 scored below 50 percent, while 31 candidates representing 0.22 percent scored 96 percent and above and assured that the result-checking process would be seamless, secure and user-friendly. “The released results will also serve as the basis for admission to Federal and State Technical Colleges, subject to the admission guidelines approved by the Federal Ministry of Education and other related authorities.
“In the coming days, NABTEB, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and the principals of the technical colleges will embark on the 2026 selection and placement exercise. This is conducted after the release of results to ensure that qualified candidates are fairly and transparently admitted to technical colleges in Nigeria based on credible, equitable, merit-driven and policy-compliant admission processes.
“I wish to assure all stakeholders that NABTEB remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, professionalism and accountability in all its examinations and assessment processes.
“As the national assessment body for technical and vocational education and training in Nigeria, we shall continue to deploy technology, strengthen quality assurance mechanisms and deepen collaboration with relevant stakeholders in order to improve service delivery and sustain public confidence in our examinations,” he stated.
