Renowned Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Eze has opened up about one of her deepest fears as a woman in the entertainment industry, shedding light on the misconceptions that often trail female celebrities and the emotional toll such stereotypes can take.
In a recent chat with Saturday Sun, the Asaba-based screen star spoke candidly about the assumptions some men make about successful women in the public eye.

“One of my greatest fears as a woman in the entertainment industry is the stereotype some men have, that because we appear successful, visible and glamorous, we must be wealthy, unserious or incapable of loyalty,” she said. “I speak from experience when I say this perception has caused a lot of misunderstanding and emotional strain. Many people judge us solely by what they see on screen and assume our lives are easy, extravagant and morally loose.”
The Lekki Babes star actress also noted that beyond the dazzling lights and applause lies a reality many do not see, one defined by hard work, sacrifice and the constant pressure to live up to public expectations.
“In reality, behind the glamour are women who work extremely hard, make sacrifices, and still desire genuine love, respect and stability. The spotlight often hides the pressure, the scrutiny and the constant need to prove that we are more than the images people project onto us,” she added.
Reflecting on her career and personal journey, the actress spoke about her hopes for the new year, expressing gratitude for a productive 2025 and optimism for what lies ahead in 2026. “The year has just started and, like everyone else, we are praying and fasting for it to be good. So far, so good. I can confidently say that 2025 was a truly remarkable year for me. A lot of good things happened. I was able to make my fabric line a reality, I shot good movies, God kept my family safe, and I completed a long-standing project. It was a fulfilling year. Some of my projects from 2025 are still in post-production, and some are not completely done yet. So, watch this space. The tree is growing,” she concluded.
