What was your reaction when you were accepted into the University of Central Missouri?
I was elated and humbled. Gaining admission into the University of Central Missouri was a major step forward in my career. It gave me the platform to grow academically and professionally, with exposure at both national and international levels.
Why did you choose Cybersecurity and Information Assurance as your course of study?
I discovered my strengths in analytical thinking and problem-solving during my undergraduate years. Cybersecurity is a field that’s constantly evolving, and I enjoy the challenge of protecting digital systems while contributing meaningfully to such a vital area.
How did it feel to graduate with a perfect GPA of 4.0/4.0?
It felt incredibly rewarding. Achieving a 4.0 GPA validates the dedication, discipline, and passion I poured into my studies. It’s a proud moment, but also a reminder to keep pushing and aim even higher in my career.
Looking back, were there early signs that you’d excel academically?
Yes, definitely. I’ve always been curious, passionate about learning, and consistently among the top in my class. I enjoyed taking on complex challenges, and I had a supportive family that encouraged my drive to succeed. Those qualities set a strong foundation early on.
What inspired your academic achievement?
My passion for technology, deep curiosity, and desire to make an impact in the cybersecurity space have always driven me. The encouragement from my family and mentors also played a big role in motivating me to excel.
How did you manage to balance academics, social life, extracurriculars, and personal growth?
Time management was key. I set clear goals and made academics a priority, while also creating space for meaningful social interactions, joining relevant extracurricular activities, and investing time in personal reflection and development. That balance helped me stay grounded and fulfilled.
What’s your advice for students aiming for top academic performance?
Stay focused and disciplined. Master time management, and aim for deep understanding rather than rote memorization. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed. Prioritize your health — get enough rest and make time for personal development. It’s all about balance and consistency.
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced at UCM?
Adjusting to a new academic system and culture as an international student was a big challenge. Balancing rigorous coursework with research projects and managing my time effectively required a lot of discipline and adaptability.
What would you say to students who want to graduate with top grades but are currently struggling?
Be patient with yourself. Stay persistent and keep a growth mindset. Improve your study habits, seek guidance from mentors, and focus on small, consistent progress. Every step counts, and with effort, things will improve over time.
What’s your advice to Nigerian students who want to study abroad?
Do thorough research, understand the admission process, explore scholarship opportunities, and prepare for cultural differences. Build a strong academic and extracurricular background. Above all, stay disciplined and be open to adapting to new environments.
