The Delta South zone of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has flayed the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai for his remarks against the Biafra agitation.
Gen. Buratai had lambasted the agitators for Biafra, describing their exercise as a waste of time and will never be actualised.
But in a statement by the coordinator of Delta South MASSOB, Mr. Joseph Odikpo, gave knocks to the army chief, insisting that their demand has come to stay.
According to him, “the army boss should be told that the struggle has indeed gained popular response both in Africa and outside the continent; infact, nobody can stop it.
“We want to say that the Delta South zone of MASSOB and the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) are solidly behind the national body, under the leadership of Dr. Ralph Uwazuruike and the Director of Religious Affairs, Pastor Francis Chigbo,” Odikpo stated.
While advising Mr. Buratai to stop making inflammatory statements that could cause another round of crisis, the MASSOB leader urged all members of the body not to be discouraged.
He noted that a significant change is already taking place in all Igbo land and other areas, and cited the example of some advanced countries who started like Biafra and have now moved up in the ladder.
“We will continue to press for the actualization of the Republic of Biafra, without violence. All peaceful avenue will be sought to ensure that our quest for a republic is realizable,” Odikpo added.
