The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has announced its support for the sit-at-home directive issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in observance of Biafra Day on May 30, 2024.

In a statement released to the press, MASSOB leader Uchenna Madu affirmed that the organization remains committed to honouring Biafra’s heroes and friends despite potential threats from Nigerian security agencies.

“We know that the overzealousness, partiality, and brutality of Nigeria security agents will be displayed in a couple of days in Biafra land towards May 30th,” Madu stated. “No amount of their intimidating patrols and show of force will ever deter MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups from honouring our past heroes and friends of Biafra on May 2024.”

MASSOB emphasized that the sit-at-home directive will be observed voluntarily and without any public processions or forceful enforcement. The organization appealed to the people of Biafra and Ndigbo to remain steadfast in their pursuit of Biafra’s restoration.

“MASSOB is appealing to Ndigbo to continue in their indomitable spirit of the movement for the restoration of Biafra as the political independence of Biafra is the only hope for an Igbo man in Nigeria,” Madu said.

MASSOB also encouraged Biafrans and Ndigbo to participate in the celebration of Biafra Day, commemorating the historic declaration of Biafra by Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu on May 30, 1967.
