A man in Ohio, United States, Caleb Flynn has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of his wife, Ashley Flynn in their home.

Ashley, a 37-year-old mother of two, was shot and killed on Monday morning in their home in Tipp City, Ohio.

Her children were in the home at the time of the incident but did not sustain any injuries.

Tipp City Police Department said Caleb, 39, had called emergency services and reported an intruder at their home.

The department said officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress at 2:31 am local time.

Authorities initially said the shooting appeared to be a burglary and reported signs of forced entry.

Police established a perimetre and used K-9 units and a drone to search for suspects, but none were found.

A week-long investigation into the incident by multiple agencies, including the FBI and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), also failed to turn up any burglary suspects, WKEF reports.

Caleb was arrested and charged on Thursday in connection with the incident, which Tipp City Police Chief Gregory Adkins described as “complex.”

He faces one count of homicide, two counts of felonious assault and two counts of tampering with evidence.

Ashley was a teacher and volleyball coach who was described as a Christian.

Daytona 24/7 reports that a celebration of life service will be held for her on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 4 pm local time at Christian Life Center in Dayton, Ohio.
