• Names Chindo chairman, Shehu secretary
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated its North-West Campaign Council as part of efforts to strengthen its political structures and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration followed a strategic meeting of the party’s North-West Zonal Caucus with governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates and other stakeholders in Sokoto State on Friday.
In a statement, Director of Media and Publicity and Spokesperson of the 2027 ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Christopher Okechukwu, announced Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo as chairman of the North-West Campaign Council, while Dr Bello Shehu was named secretary.
The meeting, held in Sokoto, was convened to harmonise positions and develop a coordinated political strategy to secure victory for the party in the 2027 elections.
Okechukwu said the council would provide leadership, coordination and strategic direction for the party’s campaign activities across the seven states in the North-West zone.
He said the engagement was aimed at charting a coherent and sustainable political roadmap towards securing a decisive victory for the ADC.
The inauguration was presided over by Bala Sani Kumo, Deputy Director-General (North) of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, while the oath of office was administered by the council’s Director of Legal and Litigation, Chief Cletus Okoye, SAN.
In his remarks, Kumo charged members of the newly inaugurated campaign management team to build a robust and inclusive campaign structure across the zone.
He specifically directed the council to ensure active participation of the party’s Youth Wing, Women Wing and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in its campaign activities and political engagements.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to a united, issue-based and people-driven campaign, saying it remained determined to promote good governance, peace and sustainable development.
