The Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB) has presented a certificate of approval and registration as a tertiary facility to Optimal Academy of Natural Medicine (OANM), Lagos.
It was presented by the Registrar of the Board, Mr. Babatunde Adele-Olanrogunsanmi, at its fifth graduation ceremony in Lagos.
The Registrar, who was represented by the Board’s Director of Research, Mr. Hakeem Bello, urged the graduates to understand and recognise their limitations and the need for referral whenever necessary.
Speaking earlier, the Provost of the Academy, Dr. Peace Awuto, admonished them to be good and worthy ambassadors of the institution.
Chairman, Governing Council of the, Dr. Sam Zion Adegbemisoye, disclosed that the vision of the academy was to become the foremost training centre for alternative medicine in Africa.
The Executive Secretary of Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board, Dr. Kafayat Lawal, harped on the importance of upholding the ethics of the profession and the importance of making referrals to other senior and more experienced colleagues or other health institutions, when deemed necessary.
Highlight of the graduation ceremony was the naturopathic oath-taking and induction to officially admit the 25 graduates to the profession.
Prominent leaders in the profession, including Dr. Adedamola Bank Kadejo, Dr Bayo Ajibaye, Dr. Ojenike Sulaiman, Dr. Adegoke Gold, and the Academy Registrar, Dr. Omo Ola Johnson, were also present at the event.
The Academy which trains in Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Cupping Therapy, Herbal Medicine and Nutritional Medicine, is also approved as a training institution for alternative medicine practitioners by the Ogun State Alternate Medicine Broad as a tertiary training institution.
