The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of Benue State, Mrs. Scholastica Ben-Sor, has mobilised women leaders and stakeholders of All Progressives Congress (APC), to strengthen grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The mobilisation meeting, in Makurdi at the weekend, brought together APC women stakeholders from across the state to strategise on strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and consolidating support for its leadership.

Mrs Ben-Sor, in her address through a projection, reaffirmed her commitment to the mobilisation drive.

The First Lady, who was away on an official assignment, urged Benue women to stand firmly behind the President and Governor Hyacinth Alia to enable them return to office to deliver more life impacting dividends to the people of Nigeria and Benue in particular.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Theresa Ikwue, who coordinated the meeting, emphasised the need for sustained political sensitisation, unity and collective efforts among APC women to strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots.

Other speakers, including the APC State Woman Leader, Hon. Helen Agaigbe; Hon. Dianna Ochoga; zonal women leaders and other party stakeholders, called for stronger grassroots structures and coordinated mobilisation to secure support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

The meeting received a major boost with the arrival of Governor Alia, who was warmly received by the women.

The governor, who explained that he came directly from another engagement, said he considered it important to personally identify with and encourage the women of Benue.

He acknowledged the contributions of women to the political process, stressing that their commitment and efforts should not be taken for granted.

He also expressed appreciation for their continued support for his administration and the APC.

The governor further highlighted the Federal Government’s support for development projects in Benue State, expressing optimism that the state would attract more federal interventions if President Tinubu secured re-election in 2027.
