“When you believe in humanity and have the passion to serve, nothing will stop you from making a difference. I plan to do more for people in our environment, and I intend to expand our core projects to provide food and alleviate poverty.”
She added that her team; “catalysts for change,” would mobilise resources and partnerships to actualise the club’s plans: “We will touch more lives and build stronger communities. We will inspire greater hope because our service is not about what we do, but about the lives we transform.”
Adetope Tychus, International Director, Constitutional Area 8, Africa, described Ikeja Metro Club as “one of the strongest clubs within District 404B2. This investiture is not just a change of leadership, but a renewal of vision, energy and purpose.
“You must lead with courage, ensure financial transparency and keep the club in good standing. The world must see that every naira or dollar donated here is used to make lives better and communities safer.
“For any club to grow, teamwork and commitment are crucial. When leaders work together with purpose, they can transform their communities through collective service and shared vision.”
Oluwakemi Eribake, District Governor, Lions International District 404B2, Nigeria, said: “Our theme this year, ‘Real Service, Committed to Serve,’ calls us to return to the heart of Lionism- genuine service to humanity. It is not about recognition or numbers, but about answering the call to touch lives with sincerity, compassion and dedication.
“Strengthen the bonds of fellowship in your club, create opportunities that inspire active participation that multiply your impact. I encourage you and your team to serve with intentionality. Listen to the needs of your community, respond with creativity and lead with purpose.
“Let your tenure be filled with acts of kindness that bring hope, projects that drive change and a legacy of true service. Growth in membership and renewed commitment to service will help sustain and expand your club’s impact.
“In line with our strategic goals, focusing on membership and mission 1.5 is key. Encouraging growth in membership while staying true to our mission of service will help sustain and amplify your club’s impact.”
Andrew Enofe, Guest Speaker, said: “Without spaces like this building, we wouldn’t have venues to gather, learn, and grow. That’s why investing in real estate for schools, community centres, and training hubs is key to empowering people and strengthening society.
“What you are doing today is keeping faith in humanity alive. As times get tougher, people need encouragement and examples of kindness. The work of the Lions Club is more important now than ever.”
He pledged his company’s… support for the club’s N50 million fundraising drive aimed at building a community centre that would empower young people and promote skill development: “Government cannot do it all. When individuals and organisations join forces to build facilities like community centres and schools, we create opportunities, reduce crime, and help young people find purpose.”
