Members of the Lions Clubs International at the weekend held its 19th Multiple District Convention in Asaba, Delta State, where Mrs. Dora Adebayo was elected as the Second Vice District Governor along other executives in other districts in the country. The convention was tagged “Asaba-Amaka 2026.”
Adebayo polled 75 votes to defeat Olore Imokhe, who secured 32 votes. She expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in her leadership: “The outcome of the election reflected the unity and shared vision among members.”
She pledged to serve with dedication and humility, stressing that her administration would focus on empowerment, unity, and humanitarian service.

She said special attention would be given to supporting members and vulnerable people within communities through programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting self-reliance. She also emphasised the need for stronger collaboration among members, noting that unity remained essential for the growth and success of the organisation.
Chairman, Nomination and Election Committee and Past District Governor, Lions Clubs International, Patricia Udeme, described the election as peaceful, transparent, and credible. She explained that the club leadership structure was designed to prepare members for leadership responsibilities through mentorship and continuous training.
The election formed part of activities at the convention where members also called for stronger unity, humanitarian action, and collaboration in addressing social challenges in communities.
The convention, themed “Building Bridges of Service and Unity,” featured leadership sessions, humanitarian discussions, policy deliberations and community-focused initiatives including childhood cancer support programmes.
