LG opens B2B academy to foster economic growth

The LG Electronics has berthed its second academy center in Nigeria to build  capacity of professionals and foster economic growth through employment generation and skill enhancement.

LG, a global innovator and provider of advanced, high-quality air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration (HVAC-R) products and solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications, made the assertion recently during the opening of its second B2B academy in Lagos

The new facility underscores LG’s commitment to increasing adoption of more sustainable HVAC and Information Display products across the residential and commercial sectors.

In his address, Managing Director, LG Electronics Nigeria, Hysoung Sub Ji, said : “With the opening of the new academy centre, LG aims to further develop and respond to the growing needs of the Nigerian market. While we are continuously introducing technologies and energy efficient products that ensure the best air quality and comfort, we keep our commitment of contributing to the society and build knowledge and expertise to develop the skills of the people. We look forward to expanding our expertise in the market and provide eco-friendly high-level air conditioning systems.”

Given that Africa is a key market for growth and expansion, the facility will serve as a hub for industry trade professionals to learn about the latest HVAC technologies available, sharpen their installation and maintenance skills and ultimately deliver better product recommendations and services to their customers. The facility is scheduled to host thousands of training courses, guiding professionals through a spectrum of topics, spanning both the residential and commercial sectors, including installation, software evaluation, and best practices for servicing LG air solutions products. The courses are designed to cover technical installation and service training, with an emphasis on ducted and duct-free, VRF, heat pump water heater and control solutions.

“The HVAC industry has undergone new technological advancements in recent years, said Gouranga Mandal, LG Academy Operating Officer. There are new products and solutions being introduced that help increase energy efficiency, cut costs and improve client satisfaction. LG is at the forefront of these innovative technologies such as the VRF system.  With this academy, we want to ensure that we train and upskill HVAC technicians using the latest technologies to produce skilled personnel capable of providing good quality workmanship for the industry.”

Earlier in 2012, LG Electronics opened its first Commercial Air-conditioning Academy in the University of Lagos as well as awarding scholarships to 10 meritorious students of the faculty of Engineering of the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The facility aimed at enabling students gain the most up-to-date skills and training in Commercial Air Conditioning. In a great way, the opening of this academy which has been designed to meet international standards, marks the beginning of a new epoch in the world of Business Solutions.

The LG B2B academy will feature a range of Information Display and Air Conditioning products for Residential, Commercial, Office and Hotel purposes such as Air-to-Water Heat Pump and ArtCool Mirror; Multi V outdoor units and a variety of VRF indoor units. Also, the High Temperature and low Temperature Hydro Kit, Multi-Position Vertical Air Handling Unit (AHU) and other ENERGY STAR®️ certified systems.

Furthermore, the academy features a comprehensive lineup of display solutions optimized for corporate environments. LG’s various digital signage for retail boutiques, restaurants, bakeries and cafes include; 65-inch Stretch LED signage, ideal for showing brand content; Transparent OLED, which serves as a digital menu board; and LG CreateBoard – interactive digital boards (75 to 86 inches).

LG’s latest B2B Academy,  was officially unveiled on June 28, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by dozens of local industry leaders and professionals.
