At the graduation yesterday, Nigeria Stake Centre, BYU-Pathway Worldwide celebrated the achievements of 200 students earning their first certificates.
The event marked a significant milestone, honouring the dedication, resilience and academic excellence of the graduates as they progressed in their educational journey.
Elder Adeyinka Ojediran, a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and first counsellor in the Africa West Area presidency, addressed the students, emphasising learning as an act of faith.
He reminded the graduates that their achievements were a testament to the incredible power of education. “You have proven that faith-filled learning is powerful,” he said.
He referenced President Dallin H. Oaks, who emphasised that “education is a sacred duty,” and Elder D. Todd Christofferson, who noted that “true knowledge leads us to Christ.”

He highlighted how BYU-Pathway Worldwide has equipped students to become leaders, mentors and dedicated followers of Jesus Christ, urging them to embrace a life of discipleship as they step into new opportunities.
“New doors will open; new confidence will follow,” he assured them. “May God bless you in all the righteous paths you choose to pursue,” he concluded.
Elder Asuquo Udobong, an Area Seventy and area online director for seminaries and institutes, reminded the students to take their religious studies seriously. Quoting President Russell M. Nelson, he emphasised that all learning, whether secular or religious, is designed to strengthen and uplift the learner, preparing them for greater purpose and service.
Elder Akingbade Ojo, an Area Seventy and regional director for Seminaries and Institutes, reflected on being a beneficiary of the same learning experience, noting that he too “finished well equipped.” He invited the graduates to remember the knowledge they have acquired and to represent the Saviour, Jesus Christ, in their daily lives. “Your knowledge is not temoral, it is also spiritual,” he said.
Charles Adebayo, the Regional Welfare Manager of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints urged the graduating students to make full use of the skills and knowledge they have gained. “You have been very well equipped studying with BYU-Pathway Worldwide,” he said, encouraging them to become problem-solvers, work collaboratively and remain dependable in all they do.
