The Lagos State Government will continue to partner with the Nigerian Police Force to ensure motorists move around within the metropolis safely.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade and his team.

Welcoming the Police Commissioner to his office, the Transport Commissioner requested for a continuous collaboration with the force in upholding the state government’s stance on zero tolerance to traffic misdemeanors.

Mr. Osiyemi further stressed the need for more policemen to prevent traffic robberies and ensure safety on the alternative routes during the on-going Third Mainland Bridge repair and subsequent enforcement of traffic regulations on okada and wrong use of the transport infrastructure.

In response to the requests, the Commissioner of Police disclosed that mandates have been given to Divisional Police Officers across the local governments and local council development areas in the state to combat identified challenges, assuring that changes are inevitable.

The Commissioner of Police reassured of the support of the force in tackling the challenges and also disclosed that the Police has formed a committee with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Lagos State Neighbourhood Corp and other sister agencies to manage enforcement.

He assured that the collaborative efforts of the bodies will make transportation safe, smooth and better than it used to be.
