The Deputy Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has called for unity among members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the local government poll, slated for Saturday, July 12.
Meranda made the call following a strategic meeting held at Lagos House, Marina, between Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, party leaders, and all APC chairmanship and councillorship candidates.
Describing the gathering as more than a ceremonial event, the Deputy Speaker said it served as a reaffirmation of the APC’s commitment to deepening democratic values and fostering inclusive leadership across the state.
“This moment was more than ceremonial; it was a powerful reaffirmation of our collective resolve to deepen democratic values, promote inclusive leadership, and uphold transparency in governance at every level,” Meranda said.
She emphasised the importance of party unity and urged APC members across the state to work together to ensure a successful outcome in the polls.
Meranda reiterated the party’s commitment to a free, fair, and credible electoral process that truly reflects the will of the people.
Highlighting her participation in the recent presentation of APC’s local government flag bearers to stakeholders, Meranda noted the event, hosted by Governor Sanwo-Olu, showcased the strength and cohesion of the APC family.
“As we approach the forthcoming chairmanship elections, our call is clear and unwavering: we stand for a free, fair, and credible electoral process that reflects the will of the people and advances the Renewed Hope Agenda,” she stated.
Meranda concluded by reaffirming the party’s dedication to grassroots democracy, participatory governance, and building a Lagos and a Nigeria that works for everyone.
