The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has renewed his call for the inclusion of traditional rulers in the country’s constitution, stressing that a clearly defined constitutional role would strengthen governance and foster harmony between traditional institutions and government.

Oba Ladoja made the call during a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House, Marina.

The monarch clarified that there is no dispute between the traditional institution and the Oyo State Government, noting that his advocacy for constitutional recognition is aimed at deepening collaboration and enhancing effective grassroots governance.

He explained that his visit to Lagos was also to express appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support and role during his coronation last year.

Oba Ladoja commended the governor for what he described as impressive infrastructural development across Lagos State.

In his response, Governor Sanwo-Olu described Ibadan as the epitome and rallying point of the Yoruba race.

He thanked the Olubadan for the visit and praised his leadership, particularly his efforts in promoting peace, stability, and unity in Oyo State and beyond.

The governor noted that traditional rulers remain critical stakeholders in governance and community development, adding that their contributions are essential to sustaining social cohesion and progress.
