Kenya Airways has paid an unspecified sanction fee imposed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over infractions related to passengers’ rights, including the case of Gloria Omisore.
The airline settled the penalty on Wednesday, September 17, following a series of meetings involving NCAA officials, the Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, and representatives from both the airline and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
According to the Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, the sanction was not intended to punish the operator but to ensure improvements in safety standards and passenger handling protocols.
“Kenya Airways has a long-standing relationship with Nigeria, and this penalty is case-specific.

“The sanctions do not diminish the positive aspects of the airline’s operations,” the Authority said.
While commending the airline for complying with its directive, the NCAA stressed that the payment of the fine does not conclude the matter.
The timeframe for resolving the underlying passenger complaints has already elapsed and the Authority pledged to follow through until the issues were fully addressed.
The Director reaffirmed the NCAA’s commitment to protecting the rights of both passengers and airlines, while ensuring that consumer protection obligations are upheld across the aviation sector.
