Stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industry in Kano State were excited at the weekend following the emergence of George Oshiokhamele as the new President of the state chapter of the Nigeria Hotel Association.
George, son of a one time icon in the hospitality and tourism industry in Nigeria, was elected, alongside his team to run the affairs of the association for the next three years.
The election which took place in Sabon – Garri Area of the state capital was witnessed by the Kano State Tourism Board, representatives of the Nigeria Institute of Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTUR), different security agencies, media as well as industry stakeholders from across the North.
In his acceptance speech, the new President expressed gratitude over the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues and pledged to step up the activities of the industry with fresh ideas and innovations, hoping to bring about a win – win atmosphere for industry players
He also promised to work with all the relevant governance authorities and bodies towards the realization of a conducive atmosphere for the growth, development and advancement of tourism and hospitality in the state.
In his speech, the National President of the Association, Eze Patrick Anyanwu charged the new executive to work as a team to achieve their goals and objectives while appealing to the previous leadership to lend their experience and expertise to the new leadership in the state.
Members of the new executive included Jonah Ekpe, (Vice Chairman), Joseph Okoni (General Secretary) Aminu Suleiman( Assistant Secretary and Abdul Shuaibu (Social Welfare) among others.
