The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully repelled an attempted attack by armed bandits on Idisu Village in Giwa Local Government Area of the state, neutralising two of the assailants and recovering firearms during the operation.
According to the Command, the incident occurred on January 11, 2026, at about 9:30 a.m., following credible intelligence that a syndicate of armed bandits, led by a notorious bandit leader identified as Kachalla Sanusi Bajira, was mobilising to attack residents of Idisu Village.
The bandits were reportedly angered by the community’s refusal to pay an illegal levy imposed on them.
A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan said, “Upon receiving the intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, immediately directed the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to mobilise operatives to the area.
“The team, working in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), was deployed to Idisu Village, Idisu Ward, along the Bayan Kogi axis of Giwa LGA.

“On arrival, the security operatives encountered the bandits, who had laid an ambush and opened fire on the team. A gun duel ensued, during which the operatives overpowered the attackers with superior firepower.
“Two of the bandits were neutralised, while others fled into the surrounding bushes with gunshot wounds.
During the operation, the police recovered two firearms and five rounds of live ammunition from the fleeing suspects.
“Commending the operatives for their gallantry and professionalism, CP Rabiu Muhammad reassured residents of Kaduna State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-driven operations against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.
“He also warned criminal elements that Kaduna State will not serve as a safe haven for them.
“The police assured that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects”.
