There was joy among residents of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State at the weekend when the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Federal House of Representatives in the last general election, Chief Francis Bartholomew Chima, popularly called ‘Omo Barca’, extended his philanthropy by sharing cash and food items to about 3,000 people.
The exercise, which was organized by LEGIT Foundation, his charity organization, was part of his palliative measures to cushion the adverse effects of economic hardship and hunger in the country.
During the exercise, Chima said, having seen what the people were passing through, he decided to come up with the intervention. He noted that it was the right time to support those in need, as hunger was ravaging the land.
Chima also said there was need to assist those in government, since they cannot do everything for the people. “The government can’t solve all the problems. So we decided to support them to succeed,” he said.
He said he would continue to support and put smiles on the faces of those in need. “I have been doing my best to see that the masses don’t suffer, and I will not relent in doing what I find joy in.”
He encouraged other good citizens of the country whom God has blessed to emulate his kind gesture, irrespective of political and tribal differences, so that the country can move forward.
“I am using this opportunity to call on other well-to-do Nigerians to support those in need. Our country will not grow if we depend on government to do everything for us,” he added.
The political bride of Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA urged Nigerians to be patient with the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because he has good plans to rebuild the country for the betterment of all citizens.
One of the beneficiaries of the palliatives gave a good report about Chima and prayed that God will continue to bless and sustain him and his foundation for their good work.
“God will continue to bless him for doing these for us. His good heart desires shall be granted by God.
“Since he doesn’t want us to lack food and money in this period of hardship, God will do the same for him.”
