• Says completion of 16-year-abandoned Civic Centre will endure as lasting legacy
Aguma of Gwagwalada, His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Magaji, has said the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, is earning a place in Nigeria’s history alongside prominent national figures such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello and Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe through his infrastructure interventions in the territory.
The monarch said Wike’s determination to revive abandoned projects across the FCT, particularly the completion of the Gwagwalada Civic Centre after more than 16 years of neglect, would constitute a lasting legacy of his administration.
Magaji spoke on Monday during the commissioning of the Civic Centre and an interactive session with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.
He commended the minister for directing the resumption and completion of abandoned projects, noting that the intervention had brought a long-awaited public facility back to life for the benefit of Gwagwalada residents.
According to him, the completion of the Civic Centre represents a significant milestone for the area council, adding that its benefits would cut across political and other divides.
The traditional ruler said Wike’s approach to infrastructure development had demonstrated the importance of completing public projects rather than allowing them to remain abandoned for years.
He also welcomed the convergence of APC and PDP leaders at the event, describing it as evidence that political differences could be set aside in the interest of peace, unity and development.
Magaji said the Rainbow Coalition had created an opportunity for politicians from previously opposing camps to work together, expressing hope that the collaboration would translate into greater development for Gwagwalada and the wider FCT.
He urged residents and political stakeholders to sustain the spirit of unity and support development initiatives across the territory.
