Joseph Agburuwhuo Nwobike, born on June 23, 1964, is a distinguished Nigerian lawyer, founder of Osborne Law Practice, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
His journey from Port Harcourt to becoming a legal luminary is marked by academic excellence, professional dedication, and philanthropic endeavors. Nwobike’s early education at St. Pauls Primary School and Government Comprehensive Secondary School laid the foundation for his pursuit of law. He excelled at the University of Lagos, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Law with Second Class Upper Division in 1991, followed by his call to the Nigerian Bar after attending the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
Furthering his academic pursuits, Nwobike obtained a Master’s degree (LL.M) from the University of Lagos, specializing in Corporate Finance and Commercial Transactions. His quest for knowledge culminated in a Ph.D. in the Law of the Seas from the University of Abuja, with his thesis focusing on the economic and dispute resolution mechanisms within maritime law.
Nwobike’s legal career began with Adedeji & Owotomo, leading to the establishment of Joseph Nwobike & Co. in 1999 and later Osborne Law Practice in 2019. His expertise as a litigation specialist earned him recognition as a Notary Public for Nigeria in 1999 and the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2009.
Beyond his legal achievements, Joseph Nwobike is a dedicated philanthropist. His contributions include building and donating a fully serviced church building to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 2018 and constructing the secretariat for the Nigerian Bar Association Isiokpo Branch in 2022.
Married to the late Olubunmi Nimota Nwobike, he is a father of five children, including Dr. Oprah Nwobike. Nwobike’s influence extends to media as the Chairman of Falcon Media Limited and as a member of the Advisory Board, Institute For Law And Technology of the Centre For American And International Law.
