Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 17 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, recovering weapons at the scene of crime. Commissioner of Police, Tijani Abdullahi, said: “We have declared war against hoodlums. “We call on stakeholders , community leaders and religious leaders for dialogue and to imbibe community policing. We need the cooperation of the public through useful information to flush out the hoodlums.
“Other sister security agencies including vigilance groups and hunters are to compliment in fighting crime and criminality.
“Police operatives arrested eight suspected armed robbers in Dutse. We recovered stolen items and weapons including Ak47 rifles and 20 rounds of ammunition.
“Police tactical team arrested another set of kidnappers who made attempted kidnap in Ringim Local Government. They were intercepted by the team.
“The command has restored normalcy after clash between farmers and herders that occurred near Kalai in Baranda forest, Kiyawa LG. Divisional police officers in Kiyawa have been put on constant patrol with the collaboration Kiyawa LG.
“Police intelligence arrested another set of suspects for murder and rape. They confessed to the crimes. We still seek support of the public to fight crime together.”
